Administrator's Duties

The estate administrator (menahel izavon) must: file a final income tax return for the deceased covering the period from January 1 to the date of death, settle all outstanding tax debts, report and pay any tax on asset dispositions during estate administration, and distribute remaining assets to heirs only after tax obligations are satisfied.

Ongoing Tax

Income generated by estate assets during administration (rent, interest, dividends) is taxable. The administrator must file annual returns for the estate until assets are distributed to heirs.
